Somatics with Zena
My Qualifications
Zena is a Somatic Experiencing Practitioner and international Assistant and intermediate level Provider of the SE training. She offers private sessions - mostly online. Somatic Experiencing is an excellent compliment to psychotherapy sessions as they allow a shift in the body's autonomic system in ways that cannot be reached through talk therapy alone. It is also a more subtle and integrative approach towards healing trauma and building resilience in general and can be pursued as its own therapy.
Zena specializes in birth trauma, complex trauma, developmental trauma and systemic trauma. She is a certified Neuro-Affective Touch Practitioner, a graduate of the Bodynamics Foundations Program and a graduate of the Integrated Prenatal and Perinatal Dynamics Program, all of which have deepened her understanding of interpersonal energy, gentle interventions and qualities of presence that support the transformative process of healing.
Since 2009, Zena teaches weekly yoga & qi gong in community settings. Her passion is to make these self-empowering and healing practices accessible to people in all kinds of challenging circumstances and she offers regular weekly online classes for free to help support their health and wellbeing.
She is a board o the UK-registered charity Tools 4 Inner Peace and co-founder of the Dubai-based holistic wellness center Body Mind You.
Private Practice
Community Care - Group
I offer Free Trauma-informed Qi Gong practices online. You can request to join my group by contacting me here. I teach bi-lingually, Arabic & English. The duration is usually about 40 mins.
Three Session Cycle - Private
Three sessions offers a short and contained time-frame and is particularly well-suited for those who worry that therapy is a never-ending process. Somatic Experiencing as a therapy works directly with the nervous system and can have a discernable effect even in a short time.
A Season of Change - Private
This is a commitment to three months weekly sessions for when you know that that's what you need. Regularity and longer process matter when there are many layers, particularly when trauma is relational, developmental and there is chronic pain or auto-immune symptoms. Is this journey calling you? Have you tried everything else and still feel stuck in an old pattern? This is a gift for yourself when you're ready.
Free Weekly Qi Gong Practice Online
With the intention of individual and community wellbeing, internally and externally, Zena offers free weekly online qigong practices. These are taught bi-lingually in Arabic and English. All are welcome.
The duration of the session is between 30 to 40 minutes, depening on the flow.

Somatic Experiencing (SE) is a subtle and integrative approach to healing trauma developed by Dr. Peter Levine through his study of shamanic traditions, animals in the wild, and the autonomic nervous ssytem. By tracking sensations in the body here and now, natural impulses can be supported to achieve their expression and shift self-defensive patterns of stuckness towards greater ease.
Integrated Prenatal & Perinatal Dynamics

Based on the work of Ray Castellino and as taught by Kate White and Lois Tresize, Combining Somatics with Embryology & Midwifery, IPPD - or Integrated Pre-Natal & Peri-Natal Dynamics - is designed to support trauma healing of the deepest imprint relating to family ancestry, conception and soul journey, in-utero, birth and pre-verbal life experiences.

Stemming from the world of Traditional Chinese Medicine and the 5 Elements theory, these mindful flowing movement practices cultivate optimal functioning of the body's vital organs, the spectrum of emotions and state of mind. Especially useful as a preventative measure and for palliative care.

Suitable for people with chronic conditions, a gentle and integrative approach to healing using awareness, breath and movement. Especially useful for palliative care and group healing practices seeking integrative processes.

Online Sessions?
Ready to get started? The majority of my practice is online and the meidum is actually very effective as a holding space for therapeutic work. Online also affords easier access and regularity, since it is less likely to be interrupted by travel.

Not a fan of online? I am based mostly in Dubai & Beirut. In Dubai, the Wellbeing Studio at Body Mind You Holistic Wellness Center caters to somatic support for mental health. It is my favorite place to be. In Beirut, I love the community space at Houna Holistic Center and the immersive rooms at Laam Holistic Wellness Hub.

A Group Class
Custmomized to group needs, from elderly to pregnancy to people with auto-immune disease and those suffering mental health challenges.
Community is an important part of healing and of boosting immunity overall, as science has shown. Therefore, practices yoga and qi gong together with a group is always more beneficial than a private practice especially for people who are not usually able to attend such classes. These group sessions help to release stress physiology and cultivate joy.
